Ganden Samye Trek
 

The Ganden monastery, 60 km east of Lhasa , was built in 1409, the 7th year during the region of Emperor yong le of the Ming Dynasty. It is situated at 4300 m in a bowl like amphitheatre and commanding a dramatic view of the Lhasa river valley. Samye was the first great Buddhist monastery in Tibet, founded in 775 A.D. during the reign of King Thrisong Detsen. On the advice of Guru Rimpoche and a visiting scholar from India, the King ordered Samye built as a three dimensional model, or mandala, of the Buddhist universe. It takes 3-4 days to walk from Ganden to Samye. This is one of the finest soft treks in central Tibet which combines the two most popular & holy monasteries of Tibet.

Mountain Holiday conducts trekking from Ganden to Samye to let the travelers knwo about these historic monasteries with sightseeing tours of Lhasa city & surroundings. These treks / tours are conducted from Kathmandu, however for the visitors who do not wish to do it from Kathmandu, direct tour from Chengdu (Chinese Part) could also be arranged.

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu
Day 02: Kathmandu sightseeing & Visa Preparation
Day 03: Fly Kathmandu - Lhasa
Day 04: Explore Lhasa
Day 05: Explore Lhasa
Day 06 :Drive to Ganden, trek 2 to 3hrs, camp
Day 07: Trek to the base of Shu Gala pass, camp
Day 08: Trek cross Shuga La pass, camp
Day 09: Trek cross Chitu la pass, camp
Day 10: Trek down to Samye, camp near the monastery
Day 11: Drive to visit Yumbulakang, Tradruk temple and Mindroling monastery
Day 12: Flight to Kathmandu
Day 13: Departure

 
Trek Cost includes:

Twin sharing accommodation at standard hotels in Lhasa, full board meal arrangements while on trekking with tents cooked / prepared by sherpa crews, services of an English speaking guide, yak & yak men for carriage of the loads, all monuments entrances paid, private transportation for the entire tour and trek, all government taxes, Chinese Visa fee, Tibet Travel Permit, Kathmadnu sightseeing tour & flight tickets to / fro Lhasa.

 
Trek Cost does not include:

Hard & Soft drinks, all expenses of personal nature, Nepal visa fee, Airport Tax, Travel Insurance, Emergency evacuation and all those not mentioned above.

     
All treks are operated for the minimum of two people to maximum group size of 12 people. Extension to Everest Base Camp or fly out to Chengdu/Beijing/Hongkong could also be arranged.
