This popular short tour of
Lhasa starts with a scenic one hour ten minutes flight
over to the norther mountain zone of Nepal - Tibet
part. Your sense of adventure starts right with your
flight over the himalayas where you have the chances
to see the worlds highest snow covered peaks. You
reach Lhasa, the capital of holy hidden plateau, situated
at an altitude of 3607 metres (11,808 feet) lies on
the north bank of the Kyichu river in the province
of U (Central Tibet). Two high craggy hills stand
up in isolation from the Valley floor. One, Red Hill,
is topped by the Potala Palace and the other, Chokpori
or Iron Hill, is crowned by a trail antenna.
This tour gives you chances to do the
sightseeing tours of Sera Monastery, Jokhang Temple
and Barkhor Street, Potala Palace, Drepung Monastery
and Norbu Likha. The main highlight of tour is the
visit of Potala Palace along with other cities of
sounds.
This architectural wonder - a spectacular edifice
whose gold roofs soar high above the town and rise
more than 300 metres above the valley floor can be
seen from all directions for miles around. The present
Potala was built mainly in the Fifth Dalai Lama's
reign between 1645-1693 and remained the centre of
political and religious power for the Dalai Lamas.
