Mt. Manaslu (8163 m) is the 8th highest mountain in the world and is situated about 40 miles east of Annapurna I. Besides, Mt. Manaslu is one of the popular 8000 m. peaks for climbing in the Nepal Himalayas. The Manaslu region is positioned in the Central Nepal and was opened for trekkers only from1991. Besides, the climb to Mt. Manaslu is especially popular among the Japanese people.
The name Manaslu is coined from the Sanskrit word “Manasa” and is transformed as “Mountain of the Spirit”. Furthermore, an expediton to Mt. Manaslu was done in 1956 by some Japanese expeditiors. Then after the peak is frequently climbed by the other people also. Additionally, the frequent climb of Japanese people has caused the peak to known as the Japanese peak.
The expedition to Mt. Manaslu is also regarded as geologically spectacular and culturally attractive. Mostly the area is resided by the Tibetan people especially in upper Budhi Gandaki Valley area. In addition, the area is also known as the home of snow leopard. However, there are many routes to climb Mt. Manaslu; the South Face is measured to be the most difficult one.
