gosaikunda trekkingThe Langtang Gosaikunda trek is Nepal’s one of the most popular and beautiful trek. Gosaikunda Lake is a holy lake for both Hindus and Buddhists. The name Gosaikunda is formed up with two words where ‘Kunda’ stands for Lake. There are about 108 lakes in this area. Among them Gosaikunda Lake is most prominent. Besides, Vairab Kunda, Saraswati Kunda, Surya Kunda, Nagkunda etc. are some other prominent lake of the place.

The Gosaikunda Lake is situated at an altitude of about 4380 m. It is one of the most famed pilgrimage sites of Nepal. Thousands of devotees visit this place once in a year at the time of full- moon festival in August. The trek to Gosaikunda Lake passes through the diverse landscapes, beautiful mountain waterfalls and rivers, green grassy lands to barren mountain sides etc. The trek to Gosaikunda is extremely popular for because of the holy lake Gosaikunda, undisturbed and peaceful trails, unique cultural and tradition of local inhabitants, Laurebina Pass (4610m), beautiful world top mountain’s views etc. From here we can have a beautiful breathtaking view of the most popular snow-caped mountains. Langtang, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Gauri Shankar etc. are some of them.

The trek to Gosaikunda is easily accessible from Kathmandu. Though it is easily accessible from Kathmandu, it is consider as a less developed trekking site in Nepal. The Langtang Gosaikunda trek is apt for any kind of walkers who are looking to experience something energetic and challenging. Moreover, it does not need any technical experience and previous trekking or mountaineering experience but one must be physically fit and able to hike about 6 hours over the hilly terrain.
