Chitwan
National Park offers one of the finest wildlife experiences
in Asia. You have to be extremely lucky to see one
of its elusive tigers or leopards. HOwever, an elephant
safari is unforgettable, and you are almost certain
to see rhinos, various species of deer, monekys and
numerous species of birds.The park is easily accesible
from Kathmandu or Pokhara and is en route for those
heading to / from the Indian border at Birgunj, as
well as points east. It is only a short detour to
/ from western Nepal or the border at Sunauli. The
park covers 932 sq km. It includes a number of tal
(small lakes). The most intersting of these, particularly
for viewing water birds are Devi Tal near Tiger Tops
Jungle Lodge, Lami Tal near Kasara and Bis Hajaar
Tal (literally 20,000 lakes) north west of Sauraha.
Chitwan has over 43 different species of mammals,
bird-watchers can try for 450 different species and
butterfly-spotters have identified 67 types of butterflies
at Machan Wildlife Resort. Some of the most remarkable
cretures to be seen in Chitwan include elephants,
rhinos and tigers. Chitwan's royal Bengal Tigers are
the most elusive of the park's wildlife. Without artificial
assistance, such as staking a young buffalo calf out
as live bait, you would be very lucky to see a bagh
(tiger) in Chitwan. It is also known for more than
50 other mammals. Chituwa (leopards) are as elusive
as tigers and the night prowling bhalu (sloth bears)
are also rarely seen. There are many other wild animals
which is available in RCNP includes different species
of deers - barking deer, spotted deer, hog deer, sambar,
Gaur etc. Langur monkeys, Gangetic dolphins, marsh
mugger crocodile, gharial crocodile are some other
attraction of this national park. Rhinos are evergreen
available animal in this national park.

Jungle Resort is at the western end of hte park on a
large island in the middle of the Narayani River. The

Wildlife Resort is a particulary attractive resort at
the far eastern end of the park, close to the boundary
